1.5-Week Customizable Program Templates (Beijing, Shanghai)
introduction
Minds Abroad customizes all group programs. However, rather than starting with a blank canvas and re-design programs from scratch for each new group, we offer several program templates to our clients such as our relatively shorter 1.5-week programs that cover the key academic and cultural highlights of Beijing and Shanghai. These program templates are ideal for a group who wants a short-duration program during the summer or for a group that is time constrained during winter or spring break. If groups are aiming for a relatively shorter program involving Beijing and Yunnan, please visit the page to learn more about our 1.5 and 2.0-week program options. If groups are interested in a longer program that involves Beijing and Yunnan, please visit the page to learn about our 2.5 and 3.5- week options.
We have several program templates, but it is not mandatory for a group to build their program on the basis of one of our templates.
Our 1.5-week program templates aim to give groups an authentic insight into modern day China through visits to its fast-paced metropolises such as Beijing and Shanghai as well as several off-the-beaten-track destinations and UNESCO World Heritage Sites that will give them a peek into traditional, authentic China and its culture.
This Page Is For Groups Not For Individuals.
This page is for those planning a faculty-led/custom group program. The activities on this page can be added to a custom group itinerary upon request. For others, click here for info on our summer programs for individual students or a small group of friends enrolling together.
Two 1.5-Week Beijing and Shanghai Customizable Program Templates and the Distinctions Between Them
Sample Beijing and Shanghai Faculty-Led Program (1.5-weeks, 5 locations) ($1585)
This is a typical program that commences in Shanghai, the country’s ultra-modern financial hub, and covers Xitang, an ancient water town near Shanghai, and Suzhou, famous for its classical gardens. As a part of this program, participants will also take a trip to Beijing, the country’s historic capital and Bashang Grassland near Inner Mongolia. The price of the program per participant starts at $1585, depending on the components chosen and number of participants. Price listed is based on a group of at least 18 participants. Sister School Exchange Program (1.5-week in Beijing and an optional Yunnan extension, 6 locations) ($1985)
This is a unique program that is based in Beijing. It enables groups from the US to participate in a variety of activities with local students, their Chinese peers, in order to have an all-encompassing cultural experience. This program combines morning Mandarin classes, cultural exchange activities with local Chinese students in the afternoon (observing a Chinese class, visiting sites of historic and cultural significance together, and learning about Chinese cuisine) and weekend academic excursions to places of local interest.
However, this program is not only limited to Beijing. If the group wishes to gain an understanding of a relatively more traditional side of China, they can participate in an optional extension that is based in Yunnan. In Yunnan, the group will study Mandarin Chinese, participate in volunteer service learning activities in local non-profits and explore various sites of historic and cultural interest in Yunnan. The price of the core Beijing based program per participant starts at $985 and the price of the program along with its optional Yunnan extension starts at $1985 per participant. The cost of both the programs depends on the components chosen and number of participants and price listed for both is based on a group of at least 18 participants. Please click to learn more about our 1.5-week Sister School Exchange Program.
Both of these program templates can be tailored according to the needs and budget of the group. We do not need to base a program off of one of these templates. However, for some groups, the calendar and list of activities a template provides can be a helpful guide to initiate a discussion about a new program.
Who are these templates for?
These templates are often chosen by groups that are looking for short programs during their spring break, winter break or a compact program during their summer break. These templates are preferred by groups who would like to explore the highlights of major cities in China.
