Advanced Curriculum
introduction
This course is for students, who are able to communicate with Chinese people and have some knowledge of Chinese characters and culture. Students taking this course will study vocabulary, sentence patterns and grammar logically. At the same time, up-to-date words and popular topics will be included in this course. Students will strengthen their ability of listening, reading, and speaking through discussion, role playing, and other activities.

Unit One
In this unit, to begin, students will have a quick review of grammar, vocabulary, and sentence patterns. The aim of this unit is mainly to review what students have learned and to reinforce that knowledge so that students in this class can be on the same level. This week will lay the foundation for the following unit’s study.

Unit Two
Students will study well-selected topics and gain related knowledge in this unit. Through studying these topics, students will acquire a deeper understanding of Chinese customs and ways of communication.
Unit Three
In this unit, students will concentrate on the study of Chinese characters. Upon completion of the unit, students should have a vocabulary of at least a thousand words and be able to read ads.
Unit Four
Listening is the emphasis in this unit. Students will be trained to understand different tones and pronunciation of Mandarin. At the same time, our teachers will put special emphasis on pronunciation, so that the students’ language skills will be more clearly understood by a native speaker.
Unit Five
This unit’s aim is to expand vocabulary. Our teacher will continue teaching additional vocabulary and idioms, so that students will have the tools of an ever-growing vocabulary to express ideas.
Unit Six
Study of this unit is about grammar and sentence patterns. Various sentence patterns will be listed for students to remember. Grammar will be reviewed and new areas in this field will be explored. Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to communicate with native speakers with more confidence.
Unit Seven
Several aspects of Chinese culture will be introduced in this unit’s study. This includes Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, Chinese qigong and so on. Additionally, interesting aspects of Chinese customs, etiquette, and legends will also be included for a better understanding of China.

Unit Eight
In this unit, there will be a review of all that has been learned. Students will also be able to have more activities with our teacher who can personalize these activities according to the students’ individual interests and requirements.
This curriculum is only suggestive and a sample for advanced learners. Classes arranged by Minds Abroad are personal and as individual oriented as possible.
